Wojcik sticks close to home - The Bradley Scout

It was a hot Saturday afternoon on July 13, 2019, in Hartford, Connecticut. Hartford Athletic was off to a rough start in its first season in the USL Championship, entering its inaugural match at Dillon Stadium with a mark of 2-5-4. 

However, in front of a sold-out crowd, and against USL Championship veterans Indy Eleven, Hartford Athletic welcomed USL soccer to the city with a 2-1 win.

Women have always struggled for representation in sports. Growing up in Decatur, Illinois, Bradley head softball coach Amy Hayes was at the forefront of that fight.

During her time in middle school, Hayes and her grade petitioned the school for a girls basketball team. Then, at Maroa-Forsyth High School, they successfully did the same for a softball team, which allowed her to compete sophomore year. Read more.

Sometimes, certain things in life just fall in place. Bradley Braves graduate goalkeeper Bryce Logan knows this all too well.

In high school, Logan found his way onto Crossfire Premier Soccer Club’s roster, two hours away from his hometown of Bellingham, Washington. Lucky for him, his academy coach doubled as the goalkeeping coach for the University of Washington Huskies. Read more.
